Around 30 animal rights activists have staged a protest outside the annual ‘Wingfest’ chicken wing festival in Bristol’s Harbourside.
For almost three hours, the protestors held placards in view of the festival’s long queue, telling ticketholders their views on chicken farming in the UK.
The activists claim they had ‘productive’ conversations with some Wingfest ticket holders which, they say, led to two groups changing their minds about attending the festival.
Vegan animal activists from Animal Rising, We The Free, Open Cages, Animal Justice Emergency and others joined forces for the protest outside Wingfest at the Bristol Amphitheatre.
They accused organisers and festivalgoers of ‘glorifying animal exploitation, and promoting eating and drinking to excess, like a stag-do on steroids’.
Bristol World has contacted the organisers of Wingfest for comment.
