Anthony Davis after injuring knee in Game 3: 'There's no chance that I don't play' in Game 4
Anthony Davis may have hurt his knee in the Los Angeles Lakers’ Game 3 win over the Phoenix Suns on Thursday night, but he said there is “no chance” that he sits out of Game 4 on Sunday.
Davis hyperextended his left knee in their 109-95 win over the Suns in Game 3 on Thursday, which gave them a 2-1 lead in the series.
“There’s no chance that I don’t play tomorrow,” Davis said on Saturday, via ESPN’s Dave McMenamin. “As a player, I’ve wanted to be in this moment. You want to be in the playoffs and help contribute to my team’s success. I want to be out there. So in my eyes, for me as a competitor, I think I’ll be out there tomorrow.”

Davis hyperextended his left knee after blocking Devin Booker in the first half on Thursday night at the Staples Center.
He finished the win out, and dropped 34 points and finished with 11 rebounds, but said his knee has been swollen ever since. Davis has averaged 27 points and 9.3 rebounds per game so far in the playoffs.
Teammate Kentavious Caldwell-Pope also hurt his left knee in the game and left early, and is now listed as questionable for Sunday. Lakers coach Frank Vogel said that he’s “hopeful that they both play.”
Though both Caldwell-Pope’s and Davis’ absence would be significant for the Lakers, Davis doesn’t sound like he’s willing to miss Game 4. After rallying back from a Game 1 loss in Phoenix, he knows how important going up 3-1 in the series would be.
“It’s going to be probably the biggest game of the series, I think, besides if Game 7 happens,” Davis said, via ESPN. “We’re going in, we want to protect home court … We know they’re going to come out and play desperate, in a sense.”
The Lakers are listed at -275 on BetMGM to win Game 4, and at -650 to win the series as of Saturday night.
