Anthony Gordon sends clear transfer message to Liverpool with celebration vs Man City
Anthony Gordon showed Liverpool and Newcastle where his priorities lie after scoring against Manchester City on Saturday.
The Magpies winger slotted home from the penalty spot to deny the reigning champions all three points at St James' Park in the early kick-off. Condemning City to a 1-1 draw, Liverpool was presented with the opportunity to leapfrog them at the top of the Premier League with a win over Wolves.
Reds fans would have been celebrating as much as the Newcastle faithful when the ball hit the back of the net as the Magpies drew level, yet those celebrations would also have been short-lived when they saw what Gordon did next.

Anthony Gordon gives Liverpool gift after all as Man City suffers Premier League title setback
Having already walked out to a giant tifo display from the home support at St James' Park ahead of kick-off, the 23-year-old repaid their faith by repeatedly kissing the Newcastle badge on his shirt after leveling the score against Man City.
After also leaping up and punching the air, the England international then turned towards the Newcastle fans, as the rest of his teammates made their way back to their own half, and slapped the badge before letting out one last celebratory roar.
If there were doubts over his commitment to the Magpies ahead of the game, then they would have surely been dismissed by the time the referee's whistle blew at the end of the match. A major relief for Newcastle, but a final nail in the coffin for Liverpool with regards to any potential transfer.
And having been strongly linked with a move to Anfield over the summer, it now appears Gordon is set to remain a Newcastle player for the long-term as the club prepares to offer him a bumper new deal to reward his commitment and performances since joining from Everton in January 2023.
While Gordon most likely still dreams of one day playing for Liverpool, it's unlikely any deal to bring him back to Merseyside will happen any time soon, unless the Reds really want to dive deep into their pockets and spend an eye-watering amount on securing his services.
