Anthony Johnson Gets Opponent Change, Faces Jimi Manuwa at UFC 191

UFC 191 Fighter Salaries: Anthony Johnson Tops Payroll, Demetrious Johnson Fourth

On Thursday, the Ultimate Fighting Championship announced a big change to the UFC 191 pay-per-view card. Top ranked light heavyweight contender Anthony Johnson will face seventh-ranked Jimi Manuwa in the co-main event.

Johnson was originally slated to face twelfth-ranked Jan Blachowicz, who will remain on the fight card against a different opponent. Manuwa defeated Blachowicz by unanimous decision in his last outing in April.

It was originally thought that Manuwa wouldn’t be healthy in time to accept the fight with Johnson at the Sept. 5 event, but he recently received medical clearance for an injured knee.

With the new match-up, Johnson gets a higher profile and higher ranked opponent. Johnson last fought at UFC 187 in May, losing to Daniel Cormier for the vacant light heavyweight title. He has won nine of his last ten fights, including six by knockout.
