Antonio Conte is facing a growing injury list ahead of Chelsea’s FA Cup semifinal with Tottenham Hotspur Saturday, according to reports.
There are lasting concerns about the fitness of goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois, who missed the defeat to Manchester United Sunday with an ankle injury, while Marcos Alonso was ruled out through illness.
Gary Cahill, named in the PFA Team of the Year on Thursday, is the latest injury doubt at Stamford Bridge after the Chelsea center-back reportedly spent two nights in hospital this week due to a virus.
It is unconfirmed whether the virus is the same one that kept Alonso out of the 2-0 defeat to Jose Mourinho’s United last weekend. Striker Diego Costa is also said to have been affected by the illness.
Club captain John Terry could be set for a return to the starting lineup at Wembley on Saturday just five days after announcing he will leave Chelsea at the end of the season.
Terry, 36, has been at the west London club for more than two decades and has become the most decorated player in Chelsea history.
He has featured in just 10 of the 39 games Antonio Conte’s team has played this campaign, with his last Premier League appearance coming in November.
