Spurs manager Antonio Conte is set to talk to reporters this afternoon ahead of the weekend north London derby at Arsenal, the Italian’s second such game of his tenure. The press conference is expected to start around 2.45pm, and chief football correspondent Dan Kilpatrick will be at Hotspur Way to hear and report on what Conte has to say. Follow Antonio Conte’s Tottenham press conference ahead of Saturday’s north London derby below!

Conte on Arsenal documentary

16:09 , Alex Young

To be honest I didn’t finish watching it but for sure in the future I will finish this documentary. I did the same with Tottenham, Manchester City and Juventus because I’m really curious to understand the way to manage the situation for the coach.

I think it was really, really interesting, but Arsenal documentary I started, but didn’t finish but in the future for sure I will finish. I think it’s positive because this documentary shows behind the scenes. Sometimes I think it’s positive to bring us out of our world.

Conte on World Cup distractions

15:36 , Alex Young

It's the first time we're facing this situation ... We have to discover what happens in this period and after the World Cup. Honestly, we're not prepared because it's the first time for everybody.

We're trying to understand the best solutions, the time to give your players to rest, to go abroad to work in another place or stay here. You don't know when your players are coming back from the World Cup.

Many questions and only time can solve the situation. There's a lot of curiosity. We are all in the same situation.

Conte on the World Cup

15:31 , Alex Young

This World Cup, in my opinion, is very difficult for the coach. They finish playing on Sunday and start playing [in Qatar] after a week. It means you don't have the possibility to work, to organise.

But a lot of time in football business is before sport. I think this is the reason the World Cup is being played in winter.

Conte on Son taking free kicks

15:29 , Alex Young

Son is one of the three players who have the task of taking set-pieces. We have him, Harry and Eric Dier.

He's now in great confidence because he scored [for South Korea] but already before he was one of these three players that can take set-pieces.

Conte on Arsenal

15:26 , Alex Young

We've played eight games, we've just started this league. Arsenal had a great start, have lost only one game against Manchester United. They're showing to be a really good team and in the summer they made good signings to improve the team.

Last season we did a really good job to overcome them in the last three games, but at the same time I know the quality of this team. They're working with [Mikel] Arteta for many years, they're really organised. Arteta for me is a really good coach. He's young but he can have in front of him a great career.

Conte on Juve links

15:21 , Alex Young

I think this is disrespectful for the Juventus coach and disrespectful for me that works in Tottenham. We’ve just started the season.

Many times I have spoken about this topic and I always said to you that I’m happy and enjoying my time with Tottenham. We have the whole season to find the best solution for the club and for me.

I’m enjoying working for Tottenham, I have a great relationship with the owner [Daniel Levy] and [sportind director, Fabio] Paratici. I don’t see a problem for the future.

We signed a contract because both were happy. I don’t see a problem. And I don’t want to speak about this because it’s disrespectful to the other coach and to me.

Conte on using 3-5-2

15:15 , Alex Young

It could be a good option because we have midfielders who are good in a three. [Yves] Bissouma when he came in against Leicester played well and he was really good integrating with Pierre[-Emile Hojbjerg] and Rodrigo [Bentancur].

This could be an option not only for tomorrow but for the future if we need to rest players or we have a situation with [Dejan] Kulusevski injured.

Conte on injuries (again)

15:13 , Alex Young

I don't want to speak about injuries because I don't want to give an advantage to Arsenal.

We have just started to play the first game in a run of 13 games and have to make the best solution and try not to take big risks. Because if we have to take big risks and lose players for the rest of the games it'll be a disaster. I need to couint on the whole squad.

Conte on banana thrown at Richarlison

15:09 , Alex Young

We have to take the good part of the situation, that Richy played with the national team and scored goals.

And then I think what happened is incredible. In 2022 to witness this type of situation is embarrassing for everybody. I hope these people are banned from football for the rest of their lives.

Conte on team news

15:04 , Alex Young

Antonio Conte is unable to give an update on Dejan Kulusevski, Hugo Lloris and others.

We have to wait tomorrow to check some players because they returned from the national teams with some physical problems.

Tomorrow will be very important, the last training session to understand the players we can count on.

At the moment we have to wait.

Smith Rowe out for weeks

14:50 , Alex Young

As Antonio Conte begins talking about Tottenham's latest fitness issues, it's worth pointing out that Arsenal will definitely be without Emile Smith Rowe.

The No.100, who has lost his starting spot this season, has undergone surgery on a groin injury and will now be sidelined until after the World Cup.

"Following a significant setback at our Premier League match against Manchester United ... and after further specialist consultations and discussions with our medical team, Emile underwent surgery to repair a damaged tendon in his groin," Arsenal said in a statement.

14:39 , Alex Young

Antonio Conte is expected to speak to reporters in around five minutes, so we will have updates shortly afterwards.

Team news updates should be first through.

Conte’s second derby

14:31 , Alex Young

Saturday's game will be Antonio Conte's second north London derby, and the first could not have gone much better.

Arsenal needed to win to secure Champions League football, while Spurs had to win to keep their own hopes alive. From the first minute, Spurs were in control as the Gunners played cowered in the atmosphere. Rob Holding even managed to get himself sent off in the first half.

Goals from Harry Kane, a penalty and a header, and Son Heung-min secure a richly deserved derby triumph and the last 30 minutes or so were almost played out like a training game.

Conte now takes his squad to the Emirates for the first time.

Richarlison demands action

14:17 , Alex Young

Richarlison has demanded serious action be taken against those responsible for a shocking incident of racist abuse during Brazil’s game with Tunisia.

Tuesday night’s game, which finished 5-1 to Brazil, was played in Paris’ Parc des Princes with the episode occurring as the Tottenham striker celebrated scoring his team’s second goal of the game.

A banana was hurled at Richarlison, 25, from the stands - prompting outcry and the player to challenge the relevant authorities to improve their response to racist abuse.

He tweeted: “As long as [the authorities] stay ‘blah blah blah’ and don't punish [the racists], it will continue like this, happening every day and everywhere. No time, bro!”

Prior to the game, five-time world champions Brazil team had posed for photographs with an anti-racism banner which read: ‘Without our black players, we wouldn’t have stars on our shirts’.

Spurs weigh up Oblak bid

14:04 , Alex Young

Away from more immediate matters, a reminder of our big transfer news line from yesterday as Tottenham have drawn up a long-term succession plan for captain Hugo Lloris, with Atletico Madrid goalkeeper Jan Oblak among their targets.

Lloris is in his 10th season at Spurs but he is expected to leave when his contract expires in 2024 and the club are making plans for life after the 35-year-old France World Cup winner.

Tottenham have identified Oblak as a primary target to be their next No1 and have sounded out the Slovenian, who has a contract until 2028 but Atletico are prepared to discuss a transfer for the 29-year-old after almost a decade of service.

Spurs head coach Antonio Conte has spoken to managing director Fabio Paratici about a long-term plan to eventually replace Lloris.

A few injury concerns

13:51 , Alex Young

Antonio Conte will be providing the latest on Dejan Kulusevski’s fitness, while there remain question marks over the fitness of Hugo Lloris, Ben Davies and Lucas Moura.

Spurs skipper Lloris pulled out of France's squad over the international break with a thigh injury and now faces a crucial fitness test ahead of Saturday's game.

Davies is unlikely to be fit after sustaining a hairline fracture to the bone just underneath his knee before the break, missing the 6-2 win over Leicester two weeks ago.

Lucas has been nursing a muscle injury for a number of weeks.

Deki a derby doubt

13:39 , Alex Young

Spurs fans woke up to some negative injury news this morning, courtesy of Dan Kilpatrick, with Dejan Kulusevski a big doubt for the derby.

The forward played both games for Sweden during the international break, but returned to Tottenham with a hamstring injury.
