Antonio Conte was full of praise for ‘warrior’ Richarlison after the Tottenham striker started his first game for the club in the 2-1 victory over Fulham on Saturday.

Another milestone goal from talismanic striker Harry Kane helped Spurs to victory over the Cottagers to extend their unbeaten start to the Premier League season.

Kane struck in the 75th minute from close range to move beyond Andy Cole into third in the list of all-time top scorers in the competition’s history with 188 goals. It was also his 43rd effort in a Premier League London derby. That figure put him level with the previous outright record-holder Thierry Henry.

It added to Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg’s drilled opener for Antonio Conte’s men. And while Aleksandar Mitrovic scored late on for Fulham to set up a nervy finale, Spurs held on to make it four wins and two draws from their opening six matches.

Richarlison was also denied his first goal for the club by a late VAR decision.

And speaking about the Brazilian after the game, Conte said: “For me he played in a massive way. He played very well, with personality, with quality. Found difficult passes between the lines. Feel his personality, he’s a warrior, a fighter. We need this type of player.

“I’m using him in all three positions up front…No,9, on the right, on the left. In previous game he played in Son’s positions and today started in Deki’s position. I’m not unsurprised but I’m enjoying he working a lot to go into our idea very quickly.”

New front three showed some promise

As for the front three as a whole, Conte added: “Harry, Richy and Sonny worked very hard for team with ball and without ball. Gave a lot of danger for opponent as moved it very well.”

Son Heing-min went another game without a goal. However, Conte was not concerned with the South Korean, who looked much brighter against Fulham.

The Italian added: “I’m not really worried because when I see this type of performances from my players, Sonny included, I’m not worried. We are going to score many goals with these strikers.”
