Antonio Conte: Tottenham director Fabio Paratici hails appointment - ‘His track record speaks for itself’

Fabio Paratici says Antonio Conte's track record of delivering trophies "speaks for itself" after the Italian was appointed Tottenham manager,

Paratici, Tottenham's managing director, enjoyed success working closely with Conte at Juventus and tried to lure him to north London in the summer before the club had to turn to Nuno Espirito Santo.

Nuno was sacked after just four months on Monday following Saturday's 3-0 defeat to Manchester United.

Conte, who won the Premier League in his first season as Chelsea manager in 2017, has signed an 18-month deal at Spurs with the option to extend further.

Speaking after the announcement, Paratici said: “We are delighted to welcome Antonio to the Club. His track record speaks for itself, with vast experience and trophies in both Italy and England.

“I know first-hand the qualities Antonio can bring to us, having worked with him at Juventus, and look forward to seeing his work with our talented group of players.”

The Italian won a hat-trick of Serie A titles with Juventus before becoming the Italy manager. In addition to the Premier League title won at Chelsea, Conte also secured the FA Cup while he also led Inter Milan to their first Italian title for a decade last season.

Conte's first game in charge of Spurs comes against Vitesse Arnhem in the Europa Conference League on Thursday night before a trip to Everton in the Premier League on Sunday.

The Italian is already at Tottenham's training ground and is thought to have spent Monday night at the on-site Spurs Lodge.
