'We shot ourselves in the foot', laments MFM's Ilechukwu

The Peace Boys’ captain has charged his teammates to watch out for the Olukoya Boys whose win in Sagamu has just made them a serious title rival

MFM coach, Fidelis Ilechukwu laments his side's wastefulness in their defeat to Akwa United on Wednesday.
Although Ilechukwu maintained that his wards were much better than their hosts, the Lagos side lost 2-0 to the Promise Keepers.

And the gaffer has blamed his side's profligacy in front of goal.

" It was a very good game but I thought we shot ourselves in the foot because we created a lot of chances but we failed to convert any of those numerous chances we created," Ilechukwu told Goal.

"At this stage we need to convert chances when they come.

"The second half of the league is the beginning of the league for MFM and we are focused on getting positive results," he added.

"Akwa United were not better than us, not in anyway and I make bold to say that MFM is still the best in the Nigeria Professional Football League.

"As we go mid season break it's a must that the players must rest though we may bring in two or three new players but must observe rest.

"Those who haven't received so much playing time, play in the state FA Cup but it's a must being humans, these players have to rest," he concluded.
