Area Playoffs: Jacksonville girls to face Silsbee Friday in Hudson

Feb. 13—The Jacksonville Fightin' Maiden playoff train will be making its next stop at 6 p.m. Friday at Hornet Gymnasium at Hudson High School.

The Maidens (26-10) will be squaring off against No. 7-ranked Silsbee (27-3), the District 19-4A champion.

Jacksonville, the District 18-4A co-champions and the circuit's second seed, derailed Chapel Hill, 51-34, Monday night at Wagstaff Gymnasium in Tyler to earn a trip to the Area round.

Marquicia Robertson and Tia Fuller led Jacksonville in scoring by pouring in 16 and 11 points, respectively.

At the same time Silsbee was hammering Hargrave, 86-27, to punch its ticket into the second round of post season play.

Silsbee's catalyst is 5'-3", senior point guard, Monica Bottley, who averages 25.9 points a game.

Silsbee's three losses came to Beaumont West Brook, Killeen Chaparrel and Lorena. That trio of teams has a combined 84-19 record.
