Argentina 0-3 Croatia player ratings: Ivan Rakitic and Luka Modric shine in World Cup group D victory

Argentina are on the verge of World Cup elimination after losing 3-0 to Croatia.

In a first half where both defences looked ropey Perez and Mandzukic both had chances to put their teams ahead.

A Willy Caballero mistake in the second half let Ante Rebic score the opener with a well controlled volley.

Luka Modric made it two with an incredible piece of skill, curling a shot finely inside of the post leaving Caballero no chance.

Argentina were slow, sluggish and poor throughout and Rakitic compounded their defeat in injury time by finding the net on his second attempt, to give Croatia a third goal.

Croatia are now through to the last 16 and Argentina will need to rely on goal difference to have any chance of avoiding the chop.
