Argentina legend Maradona to sue video game PES 2017 makers Konami

Argentina legend Diego Maradona is suingvideo game developer Konami for using his likeness without permission inPro Evolution Soccer 2017.

The game, which was released last year, includedretired players such as Ronaldinho, Thierry Henry, and Gary Lineker which couldbe used in the 'myClub' mode.

Maradona was also included, and given an overall rating of 97, though the former Napoli man claims he did not givepermission to the Japanese publisher and will‘initiate legal actions’.

"I heard yesterday that the Japanese company Konami uses my image for its game PES 2017," Maradona said on his Facebook.

"Unfortunately, my lawyer Matias Morla will initiate the corresponding legal actions. I hope this is not another scam."

To compoundKonami's alleged gaffe, it has been suggested thatrival gameFIFA 17may be on the verge of releasing the licensed version of Maradona.

While EA Sports are yet to officially comment on whether Maradona would be appearing on the game, professional FIFA player Kurt0411Fifa has provided evidence in the form of code which points toward the Argentine being involved.
