Arne Engels vows to repay Celtic transfer fee and makes 'biggest club in Scotland' boast
Arne Engels has vowed to repay Celtic's huge outlay on him as he looks forward to playing for the "biggest club in Scotland."
The Hoops splashed out their record transfer fee when they spent £11million on bringing the midfielder in from Augsburg on deadline day. The Belgian international is proven in Bundesliga and was identified as a priority replacement for Matt O'Riley when it became clear he would move on to Brighton, for what was also a record fee.
That sort of price always comes with a degree of pressure, especially in Scotland and with either side of the Old Firm. But Engels insists he will be able to justify the price tag and pay the club back for showing such faith in him. As he was unveiled to the Scottish press today, he also spoke of his excitement at challenging for titles and playing in the new Champions League format.

He said: "I think it's a really big club, it's the biggest club in Scotland. They play every time for the championship and for the cups and everything, so I think it's obvious that it's a step forward for me. Also, with the new format of the Champions League, I think it can be really special for us.
"They paid obviously a big amount for me and I want to return a lot for the club. I just want to be on my best form here and just perform like I always do. That's why they did it (signed him) so it's just for me now to adapt to the situation to the team and it's an amazing team. Everybody is teaching me a lot so I think it is going to be easy to integrate and to perform."
