New Liverpool boss Arne Slot has said that Arsenal-linked Quinten Timber has the quality needed to make the leap and play in the Premier League for Mikel Arteta's side. Timber is the twin brother of Jurrien — already at Arsenal — and played under Slot at Feyenoord.

While Arsenal signed Jurrien from Ajax last summer, Quinten remains in the Eredivise and played for Slot in the new Liverpool coach's final two seasons in Rotterdam.

Jurrien played only twice for Arsenal in 2023/24 following his big move to England after he picked up an ACL injury against Nottingham Forest on his Premier Leauge debut, and was ruled out for the majority of the season. He made his second appearance on the final day of the season against Everton.

Jurrien will be hoping to hit the ground running from next season, and he could be joined in the Arsenal team by his brother, with Slot's verdict already telling the Gunners the sort of talented player they would get if they signed the midfielder.

Speaking only a couple of months ago, Slot gave his verdict on Quiten, saying: “If he continues to develop as he has this year, then his ceiling is extremely high because he has undergone great development over the past year. He is a special player,” he told ZiggoSport .

“He has the strength and speed to create an overload in midfield. I think he has a very good mentality and is a good lad. (Quinten and Jurrien) are both very, very good. I don’t think it is ruled out that Quinten could also go to a club of (Arsenal’s) calibre.”

While Jurrien is a right-back, Quiten is a central midfielder. The latter scored seven goals for Feyenoord in the Eredivise, as it finished second in the league table behind PSV Eindhoven.

Slot was confirmed as the new boss of Liverpool on May 20, one day after the end of the 2023/24 season. It remains to be seen if Slot will return to Feyenoord and buy any of his old players for his new club, but if he's singing Quiten's praises and a possible signing for Arsenal, there's no reason why Liverpool shouldn't be taking a look at him also.

Timber won the Eredivise title under Slot in 2022/23 and won the Dutch Cup this season

Liverpool.com says: It'll be interesting to see f Slot does return to raid his old club for Liverpool in the transfer window. Making a move for Timber can't be ruled out, considering Liverpool likely need one more midfielder to go along with what it currently has. Watch this space.
