Incoming Liverpool assistant boss Sipke Hulshoff has opened up on his relationship with Arne Slot as he prepares for his imminent switch to Anfield.

Hulsoff will move to the Reds as assistant to new head coach Slot having worked alongside his fellow Dutchman at SC Cambuur and more recently Feyenoord.

The 49-year-old had also spent the last 18 months as assistant coach to Holland national team boss Ronald Koeman but chose to step down from the position ahead of this month's European Championships to concentrate on his new job at Liverpool.

While his move to Anfield has yet to be confirmed, Hulshoff will join a new-look coaching staff at Liverpool that will also include Ruben Peeters as the club's head of performance having held a similar position at Feyenoord.

And Hulshoff, speaking to RTV NOF Radio, said: "I can't go into too much detail about the content, but ultimately it is the head coach who decides who comes along.

"The collaboration with Arne is at such a good level that his confidence in me is also great and that is wonderful."

Slot officially began his job as Liverpool head coach on Saturday having replaced Jurgen Klopp, who has departed after almost nine years in charge.
