Arne Slot has reiterated that he is happy with his current Liverpool squad, but has not completely shut down the possibility of adding players to his ranks in January. Federico Chiesa was the Reds only summer signing, while they also agreed a deal with Valencia to sign goalkeeper Giorgi Mamardashvili for next season.

Liverpool currently sit six points clear at the top of the Premier League table, are on the cusp of qualifying for the Champions League round-of-16, and are in League Cup semi-final and FA Cup third round action this week.

With the Reds only losing one of their 28 matches under Slot so far, the Dutchman insisted that his current ranks deserve trust from the club.

But while confident in his current squad, he also admitted that Liverpool always keep one eye open for potential transfer opportunities.

"It would be a bit weird if I said during the summer break that we're very happy with the team and then I told you something different now,” he said. "You always look at the market, this club has always done that.

“We did that with the goalkeeper we don't even have at the moment. If there's a chance in the market then this club always tries to bring that chance in but the team is in a good place.

"Unfortunately Joe Gomez is injured which means we go from four centre-backs back to three. But he will be back in a few weeks.

"Very happy with the team and I think they deserve that trust from the club and from me if you look at the performance over the last half a season."
