Arne Slot makes 'unbelievable' claim after AC Milan as Liverpool boss names 'outstanding' ace
Liverpool head coach Arne Slot was delighted with his side's reaction to the shock Premier League defeat against Nottingham Forest last weekend.
In the Champions League, the Reds saw off AC Milan convincingly in the San Siro. Goals from Ibrahima Konate and Virgil van Dijk turned the game around in the first 45 minutes after Christian Pulisic's opening goal after three minutes. After the interval, Cody Gakpo set up Dominik Szoboszlai to seal the result.
"We have more than 11 players so we have to use them as well," Slot explained to Amazon Prime when asked about the inclusion of Gakpo and Kostas Tsimikas in his starting XI for the first time this season. "That was the positive thing — after losing on Saturday and to be 1-0 down, you always wonder how the team will react.

"But we showed how good we were on the ball. It's unbelievable that you lose against Nottingham Forest at home if you can play this well today."
Several Liverpool players were impressive on the day. "Ryan Gravenberch played outstanding today but he wasn't the only one," Slot continued. "It's the combination of energy and quality on the ball. The most successful Liverpool had three animals in midfield. We like to press high and be really aggressive but he also like to play out from the back as well."
"I think we had some chances but overall we controlled the game pretty good and it's a fair result," Gakpo, who was excellent on the night, added. "We stayed calm and remained focused and we have to thank our center-backs for [the goals]. Every player wants to play and I really want to show myself. I'm really happy with the assist but especially the win."
Liverpool.com says: Gakpo was superb and Gravenberch impressed too as the Reds got over the line with relative ease considering the size of the opponent. It couldn't really have been a better start in Europe than this for Slot. It puts Liverpool in a really strong position to progress.
