Liverpool head coach Arne Slot has offered an injury update on Diogo Jota and Federico Chiesa after both missed the open training session undertaken at the AXA Training Centre earlier today.

"Diogo missed out on two sessions. I'm expecting that he is available to play," he said during his press conference. The Portugal forward is likely to be in contention to face Bologna having had a scan on a foot worry that came back all clear.

"Federico came in today with some problems and I'm not expecting him to be available tomorrow," Slot added. "It is a pity but he will have many more Champions League nights. This game is not possible and we have to see if he can be in the team for Saturday."

The setback is particularly unfortunate for Chiesa given his record against Bologna. He has scored more times against it in his career than he has against any other team with seven goals in 11 appearances.

Liverpool is currently top of the Premier League table having won seven out of eight matches under Slot so far this season in all competitions. But the Dutchman is not getting carried away with anything at this point in the campaign.

"I think everybody is realistic enough," he said during his post-Wolves press conference. "All the players have so much experience that they understand six games into the season doesn't give you a realistic view on the league table.

"That is more like in 19 games then you can really feel, 'OK, where are we?'. But of course it helps if you get some good results, especially if you bring in a new manager and a new staff and being a successor of such a successful one. Of course everybody understands that if we'd have lost four or five out of these first six fixtures that life would've been a bit different than it is."

Liverpool.com says: Hopefully Chiesa's setback isn't a big one and he can come back into the team quickly. If he doesn't make the Crystal Palace match at the weekend, he might at least get the international break to recover. As for Jota, it might be wise to use Darwin Nunez if there is any doubt whatsoever about his fitness. Liverpool won't take any risks.
