Arne Slot had Jamie Carragher in stitches after a brilliant putdown of the Liverpool legend following the Reds’ 2-0 victory over Brentford on Saturday. Goals from Luis Diaz and Mohamed Salah ensured the Dutchman won his competitive Anfield debut after replacing Jurgen Klopp in the dugout earlier this summer.

Carragher had been on co-commentary duties for Sky Sports during the game, alongside Peter Drury, with former Liverpool captain Jamie Redknapp and former Lionesses star Izzy Christiansen on pundit duty and Kelly Cates, daughter of Reds legend Sir Kenny Dalglish, on hosting the live coverage.

Following the final whistle, Carragher joined Redknapp and Christiansen to analyse the game pitch-side at Anfield.

However, Cates interrupted the former Reds defender following Slot’s arrival for his own post-match interview.

She would joke that she wasn’t even listening to Carragher, with Slot then wasting no time to issue his own tongue-in-cheek putdown of the Liverpool legend.

“I’m not even listening to you, now Arne Slot’s here,” Cates said. “Arne, nice to meet you! Thank you.

“I know you’re not…,” Carragher replied. “I’m talking to you and you’re not even looking at me!”

Slot then interjected: “Does anyone ever listen to him?” as the entire Sky Sports team burst out laughing and were left in hysterics at the Dutchman’s quick retort.

“That’s the clip, that’s the meme!” Carragher joked before Cates added: “Two games in and we’ve already got the measure of Carra! Mic drop and you’re out!”

Slot would then jokingly turn to leave and put his microphone back down, before taking past in his post-match interview.
