Under-fire Arsenal midfielder Mesut Ozil has responded to criticism by claiming that he 'isn't the type of player who chases the ball around'.
The 28-year-old has come under scrutiny from his own supporters this season, being blamed for a handful of poor performances that coincided with a woeful spell of Arsenal form.
Ozil did however admit that his form has dipped this season, claiming that when things aren't going well it's 'twice as hard' for a creative player.
“I’m not the type of player to chase after the ball the whole time, everyone knows that." Goal quote Ozil as saying. “My potential lies far more on the offensive side.
“I’m supposed to be dangerous, create chances, score goals. When I don’t get the ball, that’s difficult.”

Despite starting the season as one of the Premier League favourites, Arsenal have peeled off since the turn of the year, enduring a woeful run of form that has effectively ruled them out of the running for a top-four finish.
Speaking of Arsenal's, and his own, form, Ozil added: “I started strongly but – like the team in general – have not kept up my performance.
“When it isn’t going well overall it is twice as hard for a creative player. Take the games against Bayern, for instance.”
The Gunners welcome Manchester City to the Emirates this weekend, where a win is surely needed to stand any chance of clawing back a spot in the top-four.
