Mykhaylo Mudryk “can’t say no” to Arsenal if they try to lure him to the Emirates Stadium, as they have been heavily tipped to do, according to a reporter who has spoken directly with the winger.

Mudryk is one of Arsenal’s top targets ahead of the January transfer window. The winger has been making a name for himself at Shakhtar Donetsk and looks ready for the next step in his career.

Arsenal are ready to reinforce their table-topping squad to maintain their momentum in the second half of the season. With that in mind, they could make a move for Mudryk in order to replenish their attacking options.

The 21-year-old might not come cheap, but it should be easier to negotiate with him once talks between the two clubs reach a conclusion.

Indeed, Mudryk is eager to sign for Arsenal, since their manager Mikel Arteta has made a big impression on him. What’s more, fellow Ukraine international Oleksandr Zinchenko may have helped convince him to link up at the Emirates Stadium.

According to reporter Ben Jacobs, who has interviewed Mudryk before, it would be practically impossible for the starlet to reject Arsenal.

Jacobs told Give Me Sport: “From Mudryk’s point of view, he wants Arsenal, it’s as simple as that.

“He said that many times including directly to me in an interview that I did about two months ago, he said he can’t say no to Arsenal.

“He’s spoken directly with Zinchenko his countryman, he’s very impressed by Mikel Arteta and the style that the team play.”

Arsenal attracting Mudryk as they seek mid-season boost

It has been hard not to be impressed by Arsenal this season. They have only lost once in the Premier League all season, picking up 12 wins and one draw. By the time of the World Cup break, Arteta’s side already held a five-point lead over champions Manchester City.

They have done well to make use of young talent as well, which suggests someone like Mudryk could thrive on their platform.

Arsenal have been considering what they can add out wide. In the first section of the season, there has perhaps been a burden on Bukayo Saka. Gabriel Martinelli has also been used heavily on the other side (which is where most of the right-footed Mudryk’s gametime has come, incidentally).

There are other supporting options, like Reiss Nelson and summer signings Marquinhos and Fabio Vieira. However, with the former still developing and the latter favouring a central role in behind the striker, more depth wouldn’t go amiss.

Continuing to look to the long term, they may want to nurture Mudryk’s potential – and it seems clear he would be happy to work with them.

For now, though, Arsenal must keep working on putting together a deal that could tempt Shakhtar into a sale. Mudryk’s contract is due to last until 2026.
