Arsenal boost as William Saliba gives positive contract update during talks over future

William Saliba says he is “so happy” at Arsenal as the club work on tying him down to a new contract.

Saliba has been a revelation for the Gunners this season and he has started every Premier League game to help fire them eight points clear at the top of the table.

The Frenchman’s current deal is into its final 18 months and Arsenal are in talks over him signing a new contract.

“I am so happy here,” said Saliba after Arsenal beat Tottenham 2-0 in the north London derby.

“The club is speaking with my agent and me, the only thing I can do is [focus on my football]. I am so happy here.”

Arsenal beat rivals Tottenham 2-0 on Sunday to go eight points clear of City in the title race and asked if games like that can help make up his mind, Saliba replied: “Yeah, of course!”
