Arsenal Champions League fixture list confirmed as dream PSG scenario emerges
The Champions League is back and Arsenal have now learnt when their first eight fixtures will take place including a highly anticipated clash with Paris Saint-Germain. In last season's competition the Gunners crashed out in the quarter-final stage after losing to Bayern Munich.
This season, the tournament has been revamped with major changes being implemented across the format. Now, there are 36 teams taking part in a league phase, rather than 32 teams competing in eight groups of four.
Each team will play four matches at home and four away. The top eight qualify directly to the round of 16 while sides finishing from ninth to 24th will contest in the knockout round play-offs, with the winners of all eight two-legged ties going through to the last 16.
On Thursday, Mikel Arteta's men learned their eight league games that will take place from the middle of September until January 29, 2025. The Gunners will face Paris Saint-Germain, Shakhtar Donetsk, Dinamo Zagreb and AS Monaco at home. They will also travel to Inter Milan, Atalanta, Sporting CP and Girona.
The most exciting clash of the bunch comes against PSG and its place in the calendar is perfect for Arsenal as they face Southampton and Leicester City either side of welcoming the French giants to Emirates Stadium. While that is great news, Arsenal open their campaign away to Atalanta on a Thursday, just three days before facing Manchester City.
The fixture order for Arsenal's eight Champions League games has now been released with fans able to place the important dates in their calendar.
