Arsenal have confirmed that Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Alexandre Lacazette, Willian and Alex Runarsson have all been sidelined after contracting Covid-19, with the quartet in various stages of recovery.

Of the four, Aubameyang has since returned a negative test result for Covid-19, and is in contention to face Chelsea on Sunday dependent on his fitness levels.

Lacazette and Runarsson are still recovering and are unavailable for the weekend’s London derby, while the Gunners have yet to rule out Willian and state that the Brazilian’s health will be monitored this week.

The club confirmed that Aubameyang, Lacazette and Runarsson all missed last Friday’s 2-0 defeat at Brentford after contracting the virus.

Arsenal also provided fitness updates on Gabriel Magalhaes, Eddie Nketiah and Thomas Partey, with the trio currently out injured.

Gabriel is “progressing well” after suffering a knee injury at the Olympics, and could return to training later in August.

Nketiah and Partey both suffered injuries in the pre-season friendly defeat to Chelsea on 1 August. Nketiah has an ankle problem and is “working hard” to be back training by early September, while Partey could be back from his ankle ligament problem by the end of August.
