Arsenal have reportedly told sponsors they are very confident of getting a lucrative new deal for star winger Bukayo Saka over the line.
The versatile attacking midfielder is known to have been locked in negotiations with the Gunners for months but no concrete news has emerged as yet.
However, it’s believed that discussions are going well behind the scenes. Indeed, both parties have let it be known to commercial partners that they expect a full agreement to be secured soon.
The current World Cup break means there will be a slightly longer delay. However, it’s expected that Saka will put pen-to-paper on a new contract worth nearly £200,000-a-week, as reported by Football Insider.
The deal will catapult Saka into the bracket of top earners at The Emirates. Indeed, it will sit him alongside both Gabriel Jesus and Thomas Partey.
In total it’s expected to be a five-year contract worth a whopping £52million in total.
Saka is not the only top Gunners star in fresh contract talks though, as Mikel Arteta looks to toe down his best assets.
Both William Saliba and Gabriel Martinelli are expected to extend their own deals, as the Gunners sit top of the Premier League table during the World Cup break.
Saka first in line for new deal
However, at the current time, it appears there is more urgency to get Saka over the line.
That is largely down to both Liverpool and Manchester City showing interest in the England star.
Saka penned his last extension in July 2020, which runs until the summer of 2024. But with other clubs sniffing around, Arsenal are keen to improve the terms of his deal.
The 21-year-old has scored four Premier League goals so far this season, also laying on six assists.
In total Saka has made 151 appearances for the Gunners since making his first-team debut back in 2018.
Arsenal are not back in action now until Boxing Day when they host West Ham in the Premier League.
