Arsenal dealt Bukayo Saka injury blow after Martin Odegaard absence in North London Derby
Arsenal have been dealt yet another injury blow after Bukayo Saka limped off during their 1-0 win over Tottenham in the north London derby.
The 23-year-old, who assisted Gabriel's second-half winner, went down in the 86th minute without contact. After being treated by the Arsenal medical staff, Saka hobbled off to the nearest possible exit from the pitch and was replaced by 17-year-old sensation Ethan Nwaneri.
When asked about Saka in his post-match press conference, Mikel Arteta said: "I don’t know. I made two changes with the front players and suddenly he’s down. I don’t know exactly what it is but he could not continue."
Although the scale of the problem does remain to be seen, Saka could join the likes of Martin Odegaard on the treatment table. Declan Rice missed the trip to Spurs following his red card before the international break, while Odegaard sat out after injuring his ankle playing for Norway last Monday.
Mikel Merino, Riccardo Calafiori, Takehiro Tomiyasu, Oleksandr Zinchenko and Kieran Tierney were also absent against Spurs. Fortunately for Arsenal, that didn't have any impact on the result as the Gunners held out to secure a vital three points at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. Gabriel scored the all-important winning goal, as he leapt highest to head home Saka's corner midway through the second period.
It was a fine away performance from the Gunners, who have now accumulated 10 points from their opening four matches and sit second behind Manchester City. They travel to the Etihad Stadium next Sunday in what is already looking like a massive game at the top of the Premier League table.

Reacting to the game, Gary Neville told Sky Sports: "Really impressive day for Arsenal. 'One-nil to the Arsenal' was a song that used to be sung many many years ago but the ability to go away from home, be tough to beat, not be invested in an attacking sense but to have the know-how, the smartness to navigate a victory (is) really, really enjoyed it. I enjoyed it, a different win for Arteta but one that deserves a lot of credit."
Arsenal face six more matches before the October international break. They face Atalanta in the Champions League on Thursday before the trip to City next weekend. Four successive away matches are to follow, however, with Bolton, Leicester, Paris Saint-Germain and Southampton coming up.
