Paris Saint-Germain have reportedly submitted an opening offer to sign Sassuolo striker Gianluca Scamacca in news that will come as a potential blow to Arsenal.

Mikel Arteta is looking at bringing in at latest one new striking option after the exits of experienced duo Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Alexandre Lacazette over the past six months.

Aubameyang was allowed to leave on a free when he joined Barcelona in January. Lacazette, meanwhile, is now back at former club Lyon after he was allowed to run down his contract.

And Arteta is said to have turned to Scamacca, who scored 16 Serie A goals this season, as a potential replacement.

Gazzetta dello Sport previously stated that the Gunners had a bid of around £35million for the striker knocked back.

But now Sky Italia claims that PSG have submitted their own offer of £30m plus bonuses, which has also been met with similar disdain.

The Serie A side are said to want a fee of around £43m for the 23-year-old. And the report adds that talks between Sassuolo and PSG are expected to continue.

Scamacca is not the only striker on Arsenal‘s radar though. Rumours persist of a move for Manchester City star Gabriel Jesus.

The 25-year-old previously worked with Arteta at The Etihad, when the Spaniard was assistant to Pep Guardiola.

Jesus a better fit for Arsenal

And former Arsenal forward has stated three reasons why Jesus would be perfect for the Gunners.

He told the Highbury Squad: “Manchester City want good money because he’s young, fit and he’s a Brazil international.

“You could say he’s world-class. He starts for Brazil.

“He’s the best pressing striker out there and that’s what Mikel Arteta needs. He’s one of the key pieces that we need.

“Jesus can go and play Champions League football.

“But he wants to come to Arsenal, one because he knows the manager, two because he knows the system and three, which is the most important thing, he wants to be the main man.”

Jesus would also be fair less of a gamble than Scamacca, given his knowledge of English football.
