Arsenal make decision on future Benjamin Sesko transfer as pundit performs Kai Havertz U-Turn
Arsenal are back in action when they travel to Atalanta in the Champions League on Thursday. The Gunners returned to winning ways after the international break as they secured a 1-0 win over Tottenham. Gabriel's second-half header proved to be the difference in the north London derby.
The result means that Mikel Arteta's side move up to second in the Premier League table, two points behind Manchester City ahead of next Sunday's blockbuster clash at the Etihad Stadium. It does feel like this week is a gigantic one for the Gunners as they bid to come away with three positive results.
While the talking is being done on the pitch at the moment, there is still so much speculation off it regarding transfers, despite the window closing over two weeks ago. With this in mind, below is the latest news and rumours from the Emirates Stadium....
Sesko latest
Arsenal are unlikely to revive a move for Benjamin Sesko from RB Leipzig, according to GiveMeSport. The Gunners, alongside the likes of Manchester United and Chelsea, were linked with the Slovenian earlier this summer, but he decided to commit his future to the Bundesliga side, signing a new deal until 2029.
Although there has been speculation over whether Arsenal could pursue a move for Sesko again next summer with him having a gentleman's agreement in his new contract. But it's claimed that Mikel Arteta doesn't feel the need for an outright centre forward in his system and aren't keen on signing Sesko.
FL says: For me, I think Sesko would significantly improve Arsenal. He is the centre forward that they need to take that team to the next level. I don't think the Gunners have a natural goalscorer in their squad and Sesko is just that, having showed that over the years.

He would bring something different to the Arsenal squad, too. With Gabriel Jesus and Kai Havertz, the Gunners have two very good footballers and Sesko is one of those too, but the Leipzig man is a predator in the box and can sniff a goal out of nowhere. He scored a hat-trick for Slovenia last Monday.
Keown on Havertz
Martin Keown has praised Kai Havertz after he produced a hard-working performance during Arsenal's win over Tottenham on Sunday. The German didn't score, but he certainly put a shift in his for his team.
Speaking on talkSPORT, Keown said: "He is giving his personality to the team, isn't he? In the beginning, I wasn’t sure, but now you see all of him on the pitch. He is out there giving everything, isn’t he? He is very good in the air. He is a massive handful. He is intelligent with his movement and he will get back as well."
FL says: Havertz has proved so many people wrong since his move from Chelsea last summer. He finished the 2023/24 season in superb form, scoring nine goals and adding five assists in 14 league appearances and he has started this one in fine settle, having already netted twice.
Although he didn't score against Tottenham, Havertz was excellent otherwise. He led the line very well and is starting to become one of Arsenal's most important players.
