Arsenal have discovered another possible exit route for one of the players they are willing to offload in the summer, per a report.

As they prepare for a summer transfer window in which they might have more power as potential Premier League champions, Arsenal are working out who they can try to sign and who they might need to sell.

It will be important for them to make room for any potential new arrivals who could upgrade the squad further. Therefore, some of their current squad members are at risk of being sold.

One of the more high-profile exits in the summer could be that of Kieran Tierney. The left-back has lost his place as a regular starter to summer signing Oleksandr Zinchenko this season.

Therefore, the 25-year-old may want to move on so that his own career doesn’t stagnate. With that in mind, he has since been linked with a transfer to Newcastle United – potentially in a double move.

But another option, according to Football Insider, could be for Tierney to move to Aston Villa instead.

The online source claims that Villa could let go of Lucas Digne in the summer. In turn, they could be looking for a second left-back signing of the Unai Emery era, after bringing in Alex Moreno during January.

Villa now have an interest in Tierney, whom they could team up with his Scotland colleague, John McGinn.

According to the report, Arsenal might be able to raise around £30million by selling Tierney. Newcastle are still in the mix to pay it – despite wanting to keep current favourite, Dan Burn – but now Villa are contenders as well.

It is somewhat ironic that just over 12 months ago, Newcastle signed a left-back from Villa in the shape of Matt Targett, but now both clubs are looking for another option in his position – and that has led them to Tierney.

Tierney is due to be under contract with Arsenal until 2026. He has made 113 appearances for the club since joining them from Celtic, including 26 this season.

But only four of his 17 Premier League outings this season have been as a starter. Therefore, he might want to consider joining a club where he could have more prominence.

Tierney must mull over Arsenal exit options

Either Aston Villa or Newcastle would be a big enough club for him to join. The latter could even have European football on offer after a season of progress domestically.

Tierney would have to weigh up where he would be most likely to feature regularly. If he would only be a rotation option for either club, it would make more sense to stay at Arsenal.

But with his Premier League experience, he clearly appeals to a couple of English suitors. If they are willing to go near the £30m mark to sign him, it would seem they would have some significant plans for once he is in their squad.

For now, Tierney will be focusing his energies on helping Arsenal in their pursuit of the Premier League title. After his time with Celtic, he knows what it takes to win leagues. Therefore, he will be hoping to make himself useful.

But beyond then, it could be a case of going out on a high note as he ponders a change of scenery for next season.

Meanwhile, Arsenal are already reportedly in contact with another wide man to play further forward.
