Arsenal fans have reacted angrily to the news head of recruitment Sven Mislintat is set to leave the club.

The German was recruited in November 2017 as part of a large shake-up of Arsenal’s football operations and was considered a coup for the club.

During ten years at Borussia Dortmund he had plucked plenty of gems from rival clubs and his strategy was deemed a key part of their back-to-back Bundesliga titles in 2010/2011 and 2011/2012.

But just 14 months into his time at the Emirates, he is set to quit his role due to developments behind the scenes and a role he feels has been marginalised.

While Mislintat prefers a technical approach, based on stats and analysis, head of football Raúl Sanllehí would rather use his vast contacts book to secure targets.

Arsenal’s desire to appoint a director of football, reportedly former midfielder Edu, also frustrated Mislintat.

According to reports, Mislintat has not fallen out with anyone at the club, but he is not planning on sticking around either.

Bayern Munich are long-term admirers of the 46-year-old and are already being tipped with a move for the recruitment guru.

But the situation has left Arsenal fans angry at their club, especially given the promise of a more modern approach to signings and recruitment in the post-Wenger era.

Stan Kroenke is the focus of much of their anger, criticised for not making sure that the key figures would work well together, and for not making Mislintat’s future a priority.

The Gunners have been tipped with a move for Barcelona’s Denis Suarez, a deal that Mislintat reportedly disagrees with, and a number of fans are angry at that situation.

Despite the vast majority expressing their frustration, some supporters are more philosophical about it and say that he may not have been the best option in the first place if he is disillusioned already.
