Bukayo Saka’s new long-term Arsenal contract will make him one of the club’s best-paid players.

The Gunners reached a broad agreement with Saka last month after a key breakthrough in talks and the winger is now all-but certain to extend his stay beyond his current deal, which expires at the end of next season.

The two parties are currently working through the finer details of a deal that is expected to be worth around at least £200,000-a-week, but that figure would rise with bonuses. The deal is of huge significance to both the player and the club, which is why negotiations have been ongoing for months.

Saka, 21, has been at Arsenal since joining the club’s academy at the age of seven and has been the spearhead behind their title charge this season.

The winger is the only player in the Premier League to have reached double figures for both goals and assists and is expected to rival Manchester City’s Erling Haaland for individual honours at the end of the campaign.

The youngster’s huge pay-rise reflects his development into one of the division’s best players, not to mention his rise in prominence at international level.

Saka enjoyed a fine World Cup with England and registered a goal and an assist in Sunday’s 2-0 victory over Ukraine at Wembley, having seemingly established himself as first-choice on the right wing, an area where Gareth Southgate is hardly shorty on options.
