Arsenal have just received some major news to help them in their big striker transfer decision.

The Gunners have been linked to numerous forwards as their hunt for a marquee striker continues. It has been made apparent that Newcastle's Alexander Isak and Sporting CP's Viktor Gyokeres are Mikel Arteta's top two options.

The Swedish internationals have been they key point of attack for both their teams. Isak has bagged 4 goals in 9 matches, where as Gyokeres has a staggering 16 in 11. Although these stats show Gyokeres to be a more clinical striker, there has been further news to prove him the better choice for the Gunners.

GOAL has released it's Ballon d'Or power rankings for 2025. These highlight the players who look to be in contention for the prestigious award for that season. Last year, Rodri came out on top and then went on to win the trophy.

Gyokeres is a newcomer to the list this year. He slots in at ninth, above the likes of Kylian Mbappe, Bukayo Saka and Cole Palmer. His hat-trick against Manchester City, along with his four goals he scored against Portuguese side Estrela da Amadora have shown him to be a goal-scoring machine.

Where did Isak fall on the list? Well, he didn't. The Newcastle striker is nowhere to be found on the ranking of the most promising players this year. Although he has scored in three successive games in the Premier League now, he was found to not have the prolific team presence as others. Despite this, manager Eddie Howe says Isak can be one of the best.

He said: "[Isak] is building momentum into his season. He has scored big goals of late for us and his general performances have continued to improve.

"...Alex has got undoubted qualities and I would put him right up there in strikers currently playing in the world, but his potential is great.

"If he can continue on the path he has been the past couple of season, he can prove himself as one of world's best."

Although the building of momentum may benefit Isak this season, it will be important to see if Gyokeres can maintain his own. This is especially relevant with manager Ruben Amorim leaving Sporting for Manchester United. The 26-year-old will have to prove that he can be a threat in a new system.

Although fans will know the danger that Isak poses up front, the Ballon d'Or power rankings have shown that he needs more, especially when compared to the goal-scoring beast Gyokeres. Right now, Arsenal's choice should be coming clearer.
