Arsenal are in talks over a new contract for Leandro Trossard, football.london understands. The Belgian attacker has been at the Emirates Stadium for nearly two years, and the Gunners are keen on extending his stay.

Trossard, who turns 30 next month, is set to be offered a new deal in north London. The attacker is currently set to stay until the summer of 2027, and as such it is not believed the new deal on offer will be extensively lengthened.

However, there is set to be a pay rise for the former Brighton man to reflect his importance to Mikel Arteta's plans, with Arsenal continuing the trend of ensuring their players' futures are secure at the Emirates Stadium. Following high-profile departures in the past on free transfers, the Gunners are keen to ensure that they maintain a strong bargaining stance if a player is to leave the club.

There have been rumours of interest in the attacker from Saudi Arabia, but the Gunners are hoping that the offer of a new deal will convince Trossard to commit his future to Arsenal.

Trossard has made a strong start to the season for the Gunners, starting seven of their 11 Premier League matches so far. The attacker has ingratiated his way into the first team with some key goals over the last two years, scoring against Aston Villa and Leicester this season, with an assist in the Champions League win over Paris Saint-Germain.

However, there is a slight injury worry over his fitness going into the weekend's clash against Nottingham Forest, after he was substituted in the first half of Belgium's defeat to Israel over the international break.

The 29-year-old was also absent from the Gunners' training session on Thursday after flying back from international duty, and so it seems unlikely he will be starting the clash at the Emirates Stadium, though whether he is fit enough for a place on the bench remains to be seen.
