Arsenal are reportedly monitoring the situation of Barcelona goalkeeper Neto ahead of a potential summer move for the Brazilian.

Neto join Barca in 2019 but has made just 12 La Liga appearances and 21 in total for the Spanish side in his three years at the club

German goalkeeper Marc-Andre Ter-Stegen is the firm number one at Barcelona and with the club in need of selling players to afford any incomings, they could look to cash in on his back-up, Neto.

Arsenal have Aaron Ramsdale as first choice at present with the England goalkeeper silencing his critics with a series of superb performances since his move from relegated Sheffield United last summer.

However, Bernd Leno, who saw his place taken by Ramsdale this season, is likely to depart this summer in search of more game time.

Benfica are reportedly interested in the German and could make a move this summer.

If Leno does leave the Gunners this summer, a replacement may have to be brought in and Goal Brazil (via the Mirror) are now reporting that Arsenal are monitoring the situation of Neto.

The 32-year-old is out of contract at the end of next season and could be available for a cut price fee, however, Arsenal are yet to make an official bid.

Meanwhile, if the Gunners don’t move for Neto, Ben Foster has thrown his hat into the ring to be number two behind the ‘world class’ Ramsdale.

Speaking on his own Fozcast podcast, Foster said: “Yeah I think I would to be honest with you.

“If I’m signing for a club as a number two goalkeeper, depending on who the first-choice goalkeeper is, so say it was someone like Arsenal or even Aston Villa for example where you’ve got the first choice goalie I know is a world-class goalkeeper.

“So someone like Ramsdale or Emi Martinez, I know I’ve got a world-class goalkeeper in front of me who’s still at an age where they’re learning and they can get better – because they can, they’ve got the potential.

“I will, at that point, say, ‘Right I am going to help you as much as I can to maximise your ability and make sure that you become an absolute monster, a beast, and give you all the tools that I’ve learned.’

“I’d love to be able to do that, and I can happily go in every day [to training] knowing that’s my role because it’s an important role still, a massive role. And I’d love to be able to do that and buzz off them making saves, I’d be that guy on the bench jumping up going, ‘Oh what a save! That’s my goalie! That’s my boy!’ It would be brilliant. I would love to do that.”
