Arsenal move into 'pole position' for Florian Wirtz transfer as 'dream' January deal emerges
The January transfer window opens in just over a month and Arsenal could be set for a busy first month of 2025. The Gunners have never been a side to spend big in January but that could change this time.
Mikel Arteta's men are competing for the Premier League title but a poor run of form throughout October and November means they are chasing Liverpool.
When the window does open, fans will be hoping to see some movement to ensure they have the best chance at becoming champions of England. A new striker has been tipped to be the priority for Arteta but they come at a premium meaning some smart business may have to be concluded.

Striker loan move considered
Arsenal are the latest club showing interest in Paris Saint-Germain striker Randal Kolo Muani. The France international is said to be available for loan in the winter having failed to make an impact in Paris.
According to Caught Offside and sources with a 'close understanding' of the striker's situation have suggested the Gunners are joined by Manchester United and Newcastle in the race to sign him.
football.london says: "Kolo Muani could be the dream signing for Mikel Arteta in January. At 25, he has plenty of potential to go into and has already performed at a high level during his time at Eintracht Frankfurt.
"With it being a loan deal, it gives the north Londoners the possibility of signing him temporarily before deciding to spend millions on him. An out-and-out centre-forward with an impressive goal record, Kolo Muani's signing could be the perfect signing in January."
Pole position for Wirtz
One player who Arsenal could move for in the future is Bayer Leverkusen's Florian Wirtz. According to reports, the Gunners are now 'strong contenders' to sign the attacking midfielder after positioning themselves alongside the likes of Real Madrid and Bayern Munich.
Sport BILD have claimed that Leverkusen have opened discussions over a new deal for Wirtz but it's understood a deal may be sanctioned in 2025 to ensure they bank as much as possible.
The report adds that Wirtz wants to join a team that has a chance of winning the Champions League and one that gives him the best chance to win the Ballon d'Or.
football.london says: "Wirtz is one of the best young players in world football and if Arsenal could beat Madrid and Bayern to his signature, it would be a signature signing of the Gunners' intent.
"Martin Odegaard's position in Arteta's team means questions would be asked of where the Germany international fits. However, if Arsenal are to ever become the best team in domestic football, having players of the quality of Wirtz at their disposal in key positions is exactly what they need."
