Arsenal would apparently not even accept a ‘monstrous offer’ for Granit Xhaka, despite periods of interest in the midfielder in recent times.

Xhaka is Arsenal’s longest-serving player. Indeed, the the Swiss international has been with the Emirates outfit for over six years –  a few weeks longer than Rob Holding.

He has made 266 appearances for the Gunners during his time at the club. During that period, he has scored 18 goals and provided 25 assists.

His role in the side has varied throughout his Arsenal career. Indeed, ups and downs have meant that he has not always played a consistent part.

He was named the club’s captain in 2019 off the back of a player vote. However, in October of that year he was stripped of the position due to an incident involving the fans.

Xhaka spent a short period on the sidelines off the back of that incident. However, he has managed to redeem himself, and is now one of Arsenal’s most crucial players.

Indeed, the midfielder is one goal behind joint-top scorers Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Jesus this season. He has also donned the captain’s armband on a few of occasions in the Europa League.

His influence, along with that of other star players, has helped Arsenal to a very good position in the Premier League.

Indeed, the Gunners are top of the table, two points clear of Manchester City.

Gunners would not entertain Xhaka offer

There have been multiple occasions over the last few years when Xhaka has been the subject of interest from other sides. Indeed, Roma are one of the sides who have previously been linked with a move for the former Arsenal captain.

However, nothing has come of any interest in him. Should any side attempt to snare Xhaka in the near future, Arsenal would not entertain it.

That is according to a report from Tuttomercatoweb. It states that manager Mikel Arteta feels the midfielder is now ‘non-transferrable.’

In fact, it goes one step further, to say that he would not be for sale ‘even for a monstrous offer’.

That is quite the turnaround from the point that he was stripped of the captaincy, which left his future up in the air.

Xhaka crucial for Arsenal

Xhaka has once again become one of Arsenal’s most important figures. His goals tally this season is already equal to his previous best in an Arsenal shirt, in the 2018/19 season.

He has also featured in every game for the Gunners so far this season. Furthermore, there has only been one game where he has not featured from the start.

Xhaka’s form will be particularly encouraging to Arteta. There have been multiple reports linking Arsenal to midfielders over the last couple of transfer windows.

With Xhaka performing well, though, Arteta may not need to splash the cash on a new signing.
