Marseille have completed the signing of midfielder Matteo Guendouzi from Arsenal as Mikel Arteta looks to clear his squad out this summer.

The French midfielder spent last year on loan in Germany with Hertha Berlin having previously fallen out with Arteta.

Guendouzi, who was signed by Unai Emery in 2018, joins Marseille on loan initially with a view to a £10million permanent deal.

On Monday, Guendouzi bid his farewell to Arsenal fans on social media.

“I will never forget the Emirates Stadium," he wrote on Twitter. "I will never forget the fans. I won’t forget the city. I will never forget everything I’ve been through here. I will never forget that my only will was to defend with pride Arsenal colours.

“Thanks to all of those who believed in me during my time here, during the good and the bad moments. I can only wish the best to the club and its fans who deserve so much, trust me!

“Goodbye Arsenal, I will never forget and will be a Gooner forever.”
