Arsenal’s unbeaten run came to an abrupt end as they were hammered by a rampant Liverpool on Saturday evening.

Sadio Mane gave the Reds a deserved lead after more impressive Aaron Ramsdale saves as tempers boiled over on the touchline between managers Jurgen Klopp and Mikel Arteta.

Diogo Jota doubled Liverpool’s lead following a mistake from Nuno Tavares before Mo Salah and Takumi Minamino wrapped up a dominant win for the hosts on Merseyside.

Aaron Ramsdale 6

Arsenal’s best player during a difficult evening. Made two or three excellent saves and never gave up. Gets better every week.

Takehiro Tomiyasu 4

Partly at fault with Gabriel for the first goal as he allowed Mane to head home. Worked hard but struggled to deal with Mane.

Ben White 5

Like the rest of the defence, he actually had a good first half. It all fell apart after the break, though, as Liverpool ripped Arsenal apart.

Gabriel 5

Like Tomiyasu, partly to blame for the opening goal. Has been superb this season, but was a little off it tonight - particularly playing out from the back.

Nuno Tavares 4

Had a fairly decent first half and then had a howler for the second goal as he passed the ball straight to Jota. Struggled for the rest of the second half.

Thomas Partey 5

Never really in the game and was overrun by Liverpool’s midfield. Can perhaps blame a lack of fitness, but he must do better.

Albert Sambi Lokonga 4

Had a really difficult afternoon, particularly at the start of the second half. Gave the ball away a few times and was hooked just after 50 minutes.

Bukayo Saka 5

You thought he could have some joy down the left given the absence of Andy Robertson, but never really got going.

Alexandre Lacazette 5

Didn’t really get into the game much, largely because Fabinho shut him down whenever he got the ball. Taken off with 25 minutes to go.

Emile Smith Rowe 5

The only Arsenal attacker who showed much composure at all. Looked threatening when he had the ball and space to play.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang 5

Was feeding off scraps and never had the chance to get into the game. Spent most of the match pressing Liverpool’s back-four.

Substitutions

Ainsley Maitland-Niles (Lokonga 53’) 5

Brought on to try and get a hold of the midfield, but he couldn’t make an impact.

Martin Odegaard (Lacazette 67’) 5

Pressed and was busy in his defensive work, but fairly quiet during his brief cameo.

Mohamed Elneny (Partey 84’) N/A

Subs not used: Leno, Tierney, Holding, Cedric, Pepe, Martinelli.
