Arsenal ratings vs Watford: Gabriel stars in difficult afternoon for Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang

Arsenal stretched their unbeaten run in all competitions to 10 matches with a 1-0 victory over Watford.

Simon Collings was at Emirates Stadium to see the Gunners in action...

Aaron Ramsdale 5

Didn’t really have a save to make all afternoon and was mainly a bystander during the 90 minutes. Almost undone late on when he missed a ball for Josh King.

Takehiro Tomiyasu 6

Had a few ropey moments in the first-half, but got better after the break. Impressed defensively in the air.

Ben White 8

A really good game from the centre-back just a few days after he was overlooked by England. Played a key role in the goal with a great run forward.

Gabriel 8 | Star man

Another strong performance from the Brazilian, who is just a rock at the bottom. Barely gave King a sniff all game.

Nuno Tavares 6

Not at the level he has been recently, mainly because Watford sat so deep and starved him of space to run into.

Albert Sambi Lokonga 5

A difficult afternoon for the Belgian, who struggled to ever really get into the game. Below the level he has been performing at recently.

Ainsley Maitland-Niles 8

A good performance in the middle of the park from the England international. Broke up play well and his passing was on point too.

Bukayo Saka7

Gave Danny Rose a torrid time as he ran at him. Had a goal ruled out for offside and on another afternoon he would have come away with one.

Alexandre Lacazette 6

Had a fairly solid game. Won the penalty after being fouled by Danny Rose and had a couple of nice moments, particularly one mazy run in the second-half.

Emile Smith Rowe 8

Is in the form of his life and just gets better with every game he plays. That’s four goals in his last eight games now.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang 4

It just wasn’t the captain’s day at all. Missed a penalty, had a goal and assist ruled out for offside too.

Substitutions

Martin Odegaard (Lacazette 69’) 6

Came on and almost created a goal for Aubameyang, but the offside flag denied him.

Mohamed Elneny (Smith Rowe 86’) N/A

Gabriel Martinelli (Saka 90’) N/A

Subs not used: Leno, Holding, Tierney, Cedric, Pepe, Nketiah.
