Mikel Arteta will be hoping to return to winning ways when Arsenal face Tottenham Hotspur this weekend. Ange Postecoglou will welcome the Gunners to N17 on Sunday afternoon in what is expected to be a fiery North London Derby.

Unfortunately for Arteta, he'll be without some key players; Mikel Merino due to injury, Declan Rice due to suspension and, possibly, Martin Odegaard, who picked up a knock during the international break. Meanwhile, the Lilywhites are expected to welcome back some big names.

In other news, Arsenal could soon receive a cash injection that helps bring two new players to the Emirates Stadium. So, with that being said, football.london have rounded up the latest Arsenal news and transfer gossip.

Arteta eyes next two signings

According to The Times, Mikel Arteta will look to bring a 'unique' attacker and a 'young defensive midfielder' to Arsenal in the next two transfer windows. Edu welcomed some big names to the Emirates Stadium this summer, tying David Raya down to a long-term contract before signing Riccardo Calafiori and Mikel Merino.

Then, on deadline day, the Gunners wrapped up deals for Raheem Sterling and Neto. Eager to finally dethrone Manchester City in the Premier League title race, Arteta looks set to welcome a couple of more new faces to London Colney in the coming years.

The Times add that Arsenal pursued Benjamin Sesko, who later decided to stay at RB Leipzig, and Nico Williams, who impressed at Euro 2024, in the summer, but moves failed to materialise. The report states that the north Londoners even looked at Jamal Musiala as Arteta formulates a plan to revitalise his side.

football.london says: "Now that Mikel Arteta has signed a new contract, I expect Arsenal to welcome some big names to the Emirates Stadium in the next year or so. With Pep Guardiola's contract at Manchester City coming to an end too, while Arne Slot still gets his feet under the table at Liverpool, the title could soon be there for the taking."

Arsenal eye £220m boost

Speaking to TBR Football, Kieran Maguire has backed Arsenal to, one day, overtake Chelsea and Tottenham on the commercial scene. The football finance expert and 'Price of Football' author said: "Arsenal’s commercial income of £173m in season 2022-23 given that they were not a Champions League club that season should be improved upon in 2023-24 and again in 2024-25.

"However, it must be said that Arsenal have lost their way in terms of commercial income and growth. The fact they are behind both Chelsea and Spurs in this regard would have surprised many people 10 years ago given that they were seen as the Bank of England club.

"Something has gone wrong in terms of the ability of the club to grow off the pitch in terms of commercial income. But with a manager with a new contract and an exciting playing style, there are still many positives. London is still the place to be in terms of football. Perhaps Arsenal can benefit from this and should be aiming for around £200m to £220m for 2024-25."

football.london says: "I agree. Everything seems to be going in the right direction at Arsenal. I think the club has a very bright future so long as Mikel Arteta can keep the fanbase onside and continue working his magic."

Ramsdale lifts the lid

Aaron Ramsdale has insisted there is no bad blood between himself and Mikel Arteta. Speaking to talkSPORT, the former Arsenal goalkeeper said: "I only spoke to him last week. What he did for me in my time at Arsenal I can only thank him for, and he thanked me for my contribution, not just myself but as a football club, getting back into the Champions League, pushing for a trophy.

"Ultimately, as managers do and top managers do, they have to make decisions which will upset people. He made that decision and we still speak. I’m obviously looking forward to getting some games under my belt here and we have Arsenal in a few weeks which will be a nice return."

Ramsdale added: "You can have all the upset or qualms when you’re taken out but when someone else is delivering you’ve just got to take it on the chin. It was tough, but I have found a new home and I am looking forward to playing again. That’s what happened, you just move on. There’s no bad blood and you’ve just got to restart your career how you see fit."

football.london says: "Not every Premier League footballer is quite as accepting of losing their first team place as Ramsdale appears to have been with Arsenal, but the position of goalkeeper is a unique one. Had David Raya not performed to a high level for the Gunners he may well have felt differently but there can be little argument that the Spaniard is now rightfully Arsenal's No. 1. Ramsdale can make amends when Southampton face Arteta's side on October 5. Could this story have another twist?"
