Arsenal forward Gabriel Martinelli could miss the World Cup with Brazil boss Tite set to snub the in-form star, according to one journalist.
The Brazilian has been in fantastic form for the Gunners so far this season with five goals and two assists in 13 Premier League starts.
He has helped Arsenal to the top of the Premier League table but his form has reportedly not been deemed good enough for a place in the Brazil squad for the World Cup in Qatar.
Using his knowledge of Brazilian football, UOL Esporte journalist Bruno Andrade (via The Boot Room) has revealed the 26-man Brazil squad for the World Cup later this month.
Andrade’s squad is as follows: Alisson, Ederson, Weverton, Danilo, Dani Alves, Alex Sandro, Alex Telles, Thiago Silva, Marquinhos, Militão, Bremer, Casemiro, Fabinho, Fred, Bruno Guimarães, Paquetá, Everton Ribeiro, Neymar, Vini Jr, Raphinha, Antony, Rodrygo, Jesus, Richarlison, Pedro and Firmino.
Brazil faces stiff competition for places in forward areas with the Seleção boasting a number of top class attackers who play for some of the best teams in the world.
Martinelli is currently contracted to Arsenal until 2024 with the club also holding an option to extend that deal for another two seasons and the 21-year-old recently revealed his happiness at the Emirates Stadium.
He told reporters: “I’m very happy at Arsenal. I’ve said it many times. This is my club. I love to be here. I love the city, I love the club, I love everything about Arsenal. So I want to stay, I’m very happy.”
Despite his positive comments, former Premier League striker Gabby Agbonlahor reckons his agent will be taking a different approach to the possibility of signing a new contract at Arsenal.
Agbonlahor told talkSPORT: “His agent’s probably saying like ‘stop saying that, no, no, no, we’re not signing yet, I’m going to get you the maximum money and the best contract possible, what you’ve done in the Premier League this season for Arsenal there’s going to be a number of clubs that want you, so you’re going to get the best possible deal’.
“So it will take a lot of negotiations, it will be things like the signing-on fee is this amount, wages need to go up every year, does your dad get something out of the deal? Does your mum get something?
“Does your sister and brother get something? The contracts nowadays for some of these Premier League clubs are crazy.
“‘I want a free box, the box I get for my family, that has to be included’, that might be £50,000-60,000, that’s included. They’ll be other things that agents think ‘what else can I add in?'”
