Arsenal fans will soon be able to watch club legend Paul Merson on the dance floor as he takes part in this year's Strictly Come Dancing.

The former Gunners star will be part of this year's line-up for the popular BBC programme and will be joined by several other notable stars from TV and sport.

Merson will take part in the first week of the annual dancing competition on Saturday night (September 14). Other contestants in this year's edition of the show include former Olympic star Sam Quek, comedian Chris McCausland, singer JB Gill and TV personality Tasha Ghouri, among others.

After the news was confirmed that Merson would star on the show, the former Arsenal star - who also works as a pundit for Sky Sports - explained how he's determined to show off his dancing skills after a career on the football pitch.

“Joining Strictly is a whole new ball game for me, but I’m going to tackle this challenge head on," Merson told the BBC.

"I’m ready to swap the pitch for the Ballroom floor, so here’s hoping my two left feet can learn some moves and you never know, maybe I’ll be taking home the Glitterball Trophy!”
