Arsenal in talks over proposed Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang transfer and hope to sign Malcom for £40m

Arsenal in talks over Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang move and hope to sign Malcom for £40m

Arsenal are in talks over a proposed deal to sign Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang as they contemplate how to replace Alexis Sanchez.

The Gunners are already hoping to land Bordeaux forward Malcom for £40million and are now seriously weighing up whether to bring in Aubameyang as well.

Aubameyang has been put forward by new head of recruitment Sven Mislintat, who helped to sign the striker for Borussia Dortmund in 2013.

Mislintat was alerted to Aubameyang’s availability as Arsenal prepare to sell Sanchez to either Manchester United or Manchester City and discussions have been held over a transfer.

Manager Arsene Wenger may need some convincing that a 28-year-old with a reputation for behaving badly is the right man to add to his squad.

It also remains to be seen how much Arsenal would be prepared to pay for Aubameyang and whether or not they would allow Olivier Giroud to move in the opposite direction.

Dortmund had been chasing Giroud last summer and the German club will want a replacement lined up for Aubameyang.

Despite his troubles off the pitch, Aubameyang’s record in front of goal remains impressive. The Gabon international has scored 21 goals in 24 appearances for club and country this season.

Sources close to Dortmund believe Aubameyang will leave the club in the coming days after being left out of the match against Wolfsburg for disciplinary reasons.

General manager Michael Zorc said: “What is going on now is not to be tolerated by the club. It is clear: It cannot go on like this. I don’t know what is going through his mind. I don’t recognise him anymore. There is trouble in the team and that is not good.”

Arsenal are optimistic of beating London rivals Tottenham Hotspur to the signing of Malcom, who has also been recommended by Mislintat, and are interested in taking Henrikh Mkhitarayan, another former Dortmund player, as part of any deal that may see Sanchez join United.
