Arsenal target Moises Caicedo knows three clubs will bid for him this summer as Brighton tipped to buckle
Brighton midfielder Moises Caicedo reportedly expects a trio of clubs to bid for his services in the summer when Brighton will almost certainly have no choice but to cash in on the midfielder.
Premier League leaders Arsenal made a concerted effort to land the Seagulls star in the closing stages of the January transfer window. However, they saw a bid of £60million rebuffed by the south coast club, while a proposed follow-up offer of £70m never materialised as the Gunners opted to sign Jorginho from Chelsea instead.
Brighton have been adamant all along that they’ll only let the Ecuador star leave on their terms.
And it appears that Arsenal bore the brunt of that stance as they hit a brick wall in their chase for the 21-year-old.
A move for Chelsea star Jorginho then followed, but he’s only signed an 18-month contract at the Emirates. To that end, the north London club are still looking to a long-term future that has Caicedo in the red and white.
Indeed, Caicedo was adamant he wanted out, as Arsenal’s interest grew and grew.
The midfielder even went as far as airing his views on social media, only to be heavily criticised for taking that approach.
Trio of clubs in hunt to sign Brighton man
And now Ecuadorian oulet, Tera Deportes, explains that three clubs were in the hunt for Caicedo as the clock counted down in January.
However, none of the trio were prepared to meet Brighton’s asking price for a player who has played just 26 games in the Premier League in his short career so far.
The Seagulls were expected to take action against Caicedo over his social media meltdown but instead granted him a leave of absence until after the window shut to get his read in the right place.
Brighton have also made it clear that any clubs coming back in for the midfielder in the summer will have to pay what Caicedo is worth.
The dynamic midfielder is said to be ‘aware’ of the clubs who are keen on him and expects all three to bid for him again.
The Seagulls, meanwhile, are said to know that they ‘have no choice but to sell him’ as another Caicedo transfer saga is set to unfold.
