Arsenal are reportedly interested in signing Cagliari striker Giovanni Simeone, who is available for as little as €15million.

Simeone spent the 2021/22 season on loan with Hellas Verona, for whom he greatly impressed for.

Could Chelsea crowbar consistency from the promise of Ousmane Dembele?

He scored 17 Serie A goals in 36 appearances, including a four-goal haul against Lazio in a 4-1 victory last October.

Son of Atletico Madrid manager, Diego, the 26-year-old striker signed for Cagliari for £11.7m in 2020 and has five Argentina caps to his name.

According to Italian outlet Gazzetta dello Sport (via HITC), Simeone will be available for €15m (£12.79m) this summer.

He has emerged as a target for Premier League side Arsenal, who are on the hunt for a new No. 9 after losing Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Alexandre Lacazette.

Juventus are also said to be in for the Argentine striker, after beating the Gunners to the signing of Dusan Vlahovic in January.

However, Verona reportedly have the option to make the signing permanent following his successful loan spell this term.

Simeone has previously been linked with Newcastle United, with a report in March suggesting they were ready to battle Atletico for his signature.

Arsenal’s top striker target this summer is believed to be Manchester City’s Gabriel Jesus, who is out of contract in 2023.

Interest in the Brazilian is high, with Chelsea, Real Madrid and Tottenham also in the mix.

On Tuesday, Spanish publication AS reported that Blues owner Todd Boehly is ‘preparing a formal proposal’ for Jesus.

Chelsea are showing ‘strong interest’ in the Gunners target. Despite this, Mikel Arteta is believed to be ‘increasingly confident of making the forward his marquee summer signing’.

A potential stumbling block for the north Londoners is their lack of Champions League football next campaign, which is something the aforementioned trio will all be able to offer.

The 25-year-old scored 13 goals and provided 12 assists for City in their title-winning 21/22 campaign.
