Martin Odegaard and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang have failed in their race to be fit for Arsenal’s crunch clash with Slavia Prague.

The pair have been struggling with their fitness, with Aubameyang recovering from being ill and Odegaard managing an ankle issue picked up on international duty.

Neither player trained on Wednesday morning and they have not flown with Arsenal to the Czech Republic.

The Gunners go into the second leg of their Europa League quarter-final trailing on away goals after drawing the first leg at Emirates Stadium 1-1 last week.

They must overturn that deficit to ensure they keep alive their dream of winning the competition and qualifying for next season’s Champions League.

“We have moments in the season where it has been the senior players and then other moments where it has been the young players. It doesn’t really matter.”
