Paris Saint-Germain are willing to allow Layvin Kurzawa to leave the club this month but are demanding a fee of at least €5 million (£4.2m) for the Arsenal target.

Arsenal are in talks to sign Kurzawa as they look to bolster Mikel Arteta’s defensive options for the second half of the season.

The 27 year-old is out of contract at the end of the season but Telegraph Sport understands that PSG are asking for a transfer fee of between €5m and €10m this month.

Kurzawa has fallen behind Juan Bernat in the PSG pecking order this season and has struggled with injuries since joining the club from Monaco in 2015, for a fee of around £20m.

Arteta has bemoaned his lack of full-back options this month following a series of defensive injuries, but teenager Bukayo Saka has impressed as an emergency left-back and Hector Bellerin made a goalscoring return to the team against Chelsea on Tuesday night.

Bellerin, the captain against Chelsea, has spoken of his pride at the resilience Arsenal showed in twice fighting back at Stamford Bridge, despite playing most of the game with 10 men following David Luiz’s red card.

“What has truly made me happy is seeing everyone really defending with heart, with spirit, playing for each other after losing a man in the early moments of the game,” Bellerin said.

“It is really difficult to get back into the game twice, especially at a place like Stamford Bridge.

“One of the most important things to be able to be confident in the game is to believe in the manager. I think we have all realised that if we play the way he tells us to play we will do great things and everyone is really motivated.

“Everyone is playing for each other, everyone is running. You could see that in the last 10, 15 minutes of the game - we had 10 players in our box defending for their lives. That is what it is about. Sometimes that is the way to win games.”

Bellerin also hailed Gabriel Martinelli, the 18-year-old forward who struck his 10th goal of a remarkable debut season. The Brazilian was not expected to be a first-team regular this season but he has already become one of Arsenal’s most dangerous and reliable attackers.

“A lot of people talk about his talent, but what people don’t see is that Gabi is a professional,” said Bellerin. “He turns up early every day. He does all the stuff and everything anyone asks him to do.

“He is the first player to press and the last player to leave everything on the pitch. The goals are just a plus. He helps us in every single way and the thing that everyone needs to praise him for his attitude. That is what makes him a player.

“I think he is obviously really young in his career - so many things can happen - but if he keeps his head where it is right now, he is going to go really far for sure.”
