Arsenal vs Leicester prompts major Premier League title race change after Man City blow
Arsenal's last-gasp victory against Leicester City has seen them installed as the new favourites to win the 2024/25 Premier League title, with Manchester City's earlier slip up also factored into the matter.
Mikel Arteta 's face lit up on the stroke of half-time this afternoon as Leandro Trossard added a cushion to a lead established minutes prior by Gabriel Martinelli. He had arrived into today's match against Foxes in the knowledge that Pep Guardiola was unable to see Man City over the line at against Newcastle United, dropping two valuable points at St. James Park.
However he was soon facing the prospect of his own side dropping points from a winning position yet again, as a James Justin brace stunned the Emirates Stadium to set up a nervy closing half-hour or so. In the end, Arsenal's prowess shone brightest to force a Wilfred Ndidi own goal and net another through Kai Havertz to win 4-2.
Of course the professionals will not be looking to the Premier League standings after only six matches, though this weekend's results are making it prettier reading for the Gunners. They now equal the tally of the team that have pipped them to the trophy the past two years, both sitting on 14 points.
At this stage goal difference is the only factor that establishes City as the current frontrunners, with their total of eight marginally better than Arsenal 's seven. Even with this the case, it is Arteta's men now touted to complete the seemingly impossible feat and sit above their rivals once all 38 fixtures are wrapped up next May.
Via Oddschecker, Arsenal's odds have shortened amongst numerous top bookmakers to be rated higher than new second-favourites City. Their odds have drifted, perhaps under the impression that midfielder Rodri's absence for the entirety of the season due to injury will have a lasting impact.

Also with six matches played, Chelsea sit one point behind their London rivals and City after a 4-2 win against Brighton this afternoon. With shortening odds they are now fourth favourites for the Premier League.
Therefore the only team that can throw a spanner in the works are Liverpool. Arne Slot's side remain in close pursuit of the top teams and can actually take command of the league with 15 points if they secure victory away against Wolves in today's late kick-off.
