Arsenal’s tricky opening set of fixtures meant there was always a danger they could be struggling by the time this match came around today.

But the scale of those struggles has been of epic proportions as they have endured their worst start to a League season in 67 years, failing to pick up a point or a goal.

Such was their collapse at Manchester City in their last game, when Granit Xhaka was sent off after 35 minutes of the 5-0 defeat, that the latter stages turned into a keep-ball session for the hosts.

The international break has been a time to reset and the Gunners fielded a number of experienced players in a 4-0 behind-closed-doors win over a youthful Brentford side.

On Saturday, Mikel Arteta and his men can start again in a battle of the bottom two, with Norwich having fared only marginally better this season, at least getting one goal in their three games.

Where to watch Arsenal vs Norwich

Highlights will be available via Match of the Day, which is on BBC One from 10.40pm on Saturday night and on iPlayer.

Arsenal vs Norwich team news

Ben White and Gabriel have played only one game between them this term, White appearing in the opening-night 2-0 defeat by Brentford. But White and Gabriel returned from illness and injury respectively to feature in the friendly against the Bees and could be the centre-backs for Arsenal on Saturday, while Takehiro Tomiyasu could make his debut after his work permit was approved.

Midfielder Thomas Partey, absent after suffering an ankle injury in pre-season against Chelsea, could make his first appearance this term.

It is a timely return with Mohamed Elneny injured and Xhaka suspended; Albert Sambi Lokonga is a further midfield doubt.

Christos Tzolis scored twice on his Norwich debut in the League Cup against Bournemouth but a calf injury makes the Greece winger a doubt for this game.

Mathias Normann and former Liverpool defender Ozan Kabak arrived before the close of the transfer window to bolster Daniel Farke’s options at Carrow Road.

Farke suggested this game may come too soon for Kabak, who has not had a proper preseason.

Arsenal vs Norwich prediction

This is as good as chance as Arsenal will have to get out of their slump.

True, if Norwich can get an early goal, or at least frustrate Arsenal, then the Gunners fans will start to make their feelings clear.

But if they can quell any anxiety, Arsenal can build and the return of Partey would certainly help their cause.

Not only would his appearance be timely with Xhaka suspended for the next three games, but the Ghana international brings a stability that has been missing from the side this season.

It may not be pretty but the Gunners will get the job done.
