The January transfer window is in full flow and this time, even Arsenal are involved in more than just selling their best player. (Not you Theo).

As the news of Alexis Sanchez’ departure gathers steam, so does the arrival of the following players:

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang

The Gabon international has been a sensation for Dortmund for pretty much as long as he’s played for them. Ever since his arrival in 2013, Aubameyand has set high standards on the pitch. Off the pitch though, not quite.

He is what you’d probably call a “millennial” footballer-aware of the fame he has and not afraid to use it. At Arsenal, he’d probably make best buds with Alex Iwobi, who too was recently accused of partying too hard before a game.

Should this transfer go through, Arsenal fans will probably be getting a more than adequate replacement for Alexis. Aubameyang is a prime footballer and brings assured goals. If we can deal with the Chilean moaning for a whole season, Pierre’s antics shouldn’t be any worse.

Malcom

It would not be a proper transfer window if Arsenal were not linked with a young upcoming individual. This time though, they have already signed one and are hoping to steal another under everyone’s noses.

Malcom Filipe Silva de Oliveira would be the Gunners first Brazilian signing after Gabriel back in 2015. The London side has often been lacking of the “samba” style in their play and this lad surely can bring it to the team.

A tricky winger, he is pacey and full of attacking potential-costing a whole lot lesser than Mbappe. Whether or not Wenger can pull off this coup is another matter entirely. However, his arrival along with Aubameyang could mean a serious attacking upgrade for Arsenal.

Also, the number 7 shirt would be empty for him anyway.

Henrikh Mkhitaryan

Talking about upgrades, it has been a long time since we saw any other player take the creative mantle off Mesut Ozil. Wenger’s team is currently missing Santi Cazorla and it would be a wise decision to bring in another inventive force into the side.

After City pulled out of signing Sanchez, United remain the prime favourites to get the Chilean. The only thing holding up the deal is apparently the movement of Mkhitaryan the other way.

Arsenal have long demonstrated inability to replace their outgoing players but not this time. Getting the Armenian international in exchange of Alexis would be a rather sly move on Wenger’s part.

Of course, getting all three of these options would not be realistic (because it’s Arsenal). But even if the club manages to recruit two out of these three-it would be a very successful January transfer window.
